Estelle 4-H & Youth Camp, 78 Lee Hightower Road in Huntsville, Texas. The Cooperative Extension Program at Prairie View A&M University is sponsoring the Institute. "We will offer 12 hours of interactive, hands-on training which includes 10 workshops at the Adult and Teen Volunteer Leaders Institute," said Beverly Spears, program specialist - 4-H & Youth, with the Cooperative Extension Program at Prairie View A&M University. "We are targeting senior 4-Hers and adult volunteers who have not had an opportunity to assume traditional 4-H leadership roles. Once they are trained, we want them to conduct youth programs with 4-H members and new youth groups in their communities." Workshops planned for the Institute will cover such topics as fund-raising and event planning; abstinence education; youth entrepreneurship; community gardens; 4-H...more than you can imagine; scholarship and competitive activities; and recruitment and marketing camp. Other workshops include club management, rules and leadership in 4-H clubs, parliamentary procedures; community service; and hooked on fishing, not on drugs/wildlife & fisheries. Registration for the Institute is $25.00 and is due no later than February 14. Registration fee includes meals, promotional materials and overnight accommodations at the H.S.
