Marion County to Participate in One Day 4-H

JEFFERSON, TEXAS – Marion County youth and adults will be installing some much needed playground equipment at Kelly Park from 9:00 a.m. until completion on October 10th, which has been designated as one day 4-H in every county across Texas.  Paulette Cooper, Extension agent – 4-H & Youth with the Cooperative Extension Program at Prairie View A&M University, is coordinating the project.

“We are asking all families and youth that play baseball at Kelly Park to be part of the planning process and help with the installation of equipment,” said Cooper. “We also want anyone interested in helping the young people to come out on October 10th  and participate in
one day 4-H
.”

One day 4-H is a way for all 4-H members to take one day to say “thank you” to their communities, county, and state for all the support they have provided to 4-H member s for more than 100 years.  It enables each 4-H member to recruit friends to help make their communities better through adopting a service project. These projects can be done as individuals or as an entire county 4-H program. Regardless of the project that is chosen, it is one day to make a difference.

The installation of playground equipment at Kelly Park is one of several service projects in Marion County that has received funding from Cooperative Extension’s “Engaging Youth Serving Community” Project (EYSC). This project is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Cooperative State Research Education and Extension Service (CSREES) for rural community adult and youth partnerships.
