Workshop to Highlight 2008 Farm Bill Opportunities for Local Farmers
PRAIRIE VIEW, TX – The Cooperative Extension Program at Prairie View A&M University in cooperation with the Landowners Association of Texas, Incorporated will host a workshop for new, limited resource and specialty crop farmers and ranchers in Waller, Harris and surrounding counties on Saturday, September 12 in the Carden-Waller Cooperative Extension building on campus. The workshop will highlight opportunities available in the 2008 Farm Bill for the target audience.
“We will have representatives from the Farm Service Agency and the Natural Resources Conservation Service to share information and answer questions on how to enroll farms and ranches with USDA agencies and will also discuss the benefits of doing so,” said Billy Lawton, program specialist, Cooperative Extension Program. “This workshop will be packed with practical information that our participants can use immediately to improve their farm and ranch operations.”
The workshop will start at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 1:00 p.m. The Carden-Waller Cooperative Extension building is located on the corner of L.W. Minor and E.M. Norris streets.
