Parenting

imageThe parenting training creates an awareness and environment for parents to educate children from birth until they reach adulthood.  This task is usually done by the biological parents, but if the parents are unable or unwilling to provide care, the task is usually deferred to grandparents, close relatives or godparents.
           
Family & Consumer Sciences staff are devoted to parenting education with diverse audiences.

Dealing with Bullies
           
This program is presented in an interactive workshop format exploring attitudes, behaviors and personalities associated with bullying.

Death and Dying

This training engages family members and counselors on the stages of grieving.  Participants are involved in coping strategies and additional resources for bereavement.

Fall Prevention

This lecture and video presentation address medication, home décor, home safety and vision to prevent the incidences of falls for senior adults and individuals that may have disabilities.

Manners Matter
           
This training provides information on how students should behave in different settings.   Topics included are Dress for Success, Table Etiquette and Body Language. 

Children, Youth, and Families at Risk

The Family & Consumer Sciences staff educates parents on how to promote positive growth and development of youth and families.
